This week's training is canceled; Race 2 is already on Saturday

Dear participants We skiped weeks trainig and we will go directly to the second race of 170km on Saturday, 10th of August. Next week will be significantly higher temperatures, especialy on Monday as the second race was initally planned. Pigeons came very well from the first race, so they do not need a long recovery time. Wish you good luck on Saturdays race.

After race 3...

Race 3 was very hard, although more than 90% of the pigeons returned, which is a clear sign the birds were top-prepared, and they can defy any so unexpected challenges on this difficult route. What is coming?  After race 4, we start with the separation of sexes.  3-races CUP A new competition is coming to life: the 3-races Cup. The results of race 4 (320km), race 5 (400km), and final race (520km) will be considered on the AviRings “3-races” Cup – 2023. The pigeon with the lowest total time in those 3 races will win these AviRings “3-races” Cup competitions.

We organized an AviRings derby successful training session, and the birds are improving with each one. As the tension rises, it's a testament to the hard work and dedication put into preparing for the upcoming events.

Just only a month till first trainings ....

AviRings Derby is an exciting pigeon racing event in Slovenia! It's great to hear that the capacities for 2023 have been fulfilled, with 330 participants and 2100 pigeons. The upcoming training and races will surely be thrilling for the participants and the spectators. Starting with the first training in a month's time, the pigeons will have the opportunity to develop their skills and endurance. There will be 5 races, ranging from 120 to 400 kilometers, and after that will be held the final race (520km). Each race will likely test the pigeons' speed, navigation, and ability to handle varying distances. The final race is scheduled for September 10th, which will mark the event’s climax. It will be interesting to see which pigeon emerges as the champion after the intense competition throughout the whole season. The final race often holds the highest stakes and can be quite unpredictable. Following the final race, there will be the Ultimate 600 race, held two weeks later. This race will feature only the activated birds, adding another layer of excitement and competitiveness. It's an opportunity for the top-performing pigeons to showcase their skills once again in a high-stakes race. Overall, it seems like a well-organized and engaging pigeon racing event with a comprehensive schedule. Best of luck to all the participants and may the best pigeon win!

AviRings Derby 2023 started

AviRings Derby 2023 The third edition of AviRings Derby started revolutionary at the beginning of the season. Enormous interest to participate in our OLR surprised us positively. Early registrations from our top countries, like Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Slovenia, indicated that we would fulfill the loft capacities this year. Indeed. We also got pigeons from “new” countries like Romania, the Czech Republic, Ireland, and Denmark. Participants in the first two editions apricated our work. We can promise to do our best to make the 2023 edition even better and definitely bigger with more hard competition. We collected pigeons in 3 big rounds: March, April, and at the beginning of May. Every round means more than 3200km in a few days over Europe (Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and back). This year we collected pigeons with our new truck, where the pigeons have all the comfort we can imagine on long journeys. Some memorable moments we captured in an excellent video.

Final race, AviRings Derby 2022, 13.9.2022 - some photo moments from the loft location

602 pigeons were released at 7:20 in the morning (Central European Time). The morning in Tiszabecs was cold, only 11 C°, and the moderate north wind was blowing. The release was successful. Pigeons went quickly towards the West-West-North direction, which was less cloudy.  The first pigeons came at 15. clock. The winner was Marko Goranič from Slovenia with the cock SLO-22-112-3805, which also won the 3-races CUP competition, Till the evening, 237 pigeons came; in the following days, over 400 pigeons returned . It was a very successful final event; the attendant crowd, the sport pigeon, lowers from Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Austria, and Slovenia, enjoyed the arrivals.

First of all, it will be the very first race in Europe in which all racing pigeons will be wearing a GPS tracking ring, it will be the first race that will feature separation of the pigeons in the competition phase and it will also bring one more important difference in comparison to other similar derbies: loft darkening in the training phase. Widowhood is a well-known concept in the world of modern pigeon racing; almost every pigeon fancier practises it in one form or another. However, most racing pigeons are only separated by gender once they reach adulthood. At the AviRings Derby 2021, we’ve decided to take things one step further to make the pigeons even faster and guarantee that they can go even further. This means that the pigeons in the race will be separated by gender as soon as they reach sexual maturity.
