Record-Breaking Season 2024: AviRings Derby in Numbers and Facts

7/2/2024

This year's season is record-breaking for AviRings Derby in many aspects. We are proud to announce that we have gathered 2,350 pigeons from over 340 fanciers across 24 countries. Thank you to all participants for your trust and support! We also apologize to those whose pigeons we could not accept due to full capacity. We are looking forward to your registration in the next season.

Season Highlights:

  • International Participation: The largest number of pigeons were sent by fanciers from the Netherlands (680), followed by Germany (505), with noticeable increases in participation of fanciers from Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, and also other countries.
  • Exceptional Competition: The race attracts the most successful pigeon fanciers globally.
  • Successful Quarantine Completion: Out of 2,350 pigeons, 2,221 successfully completed quarantine, resulting in approximately 5.5% losses during the darkening phase. The initial list of pigeons will be published before the first training session.
  • Pigeon Health and Safety: Pigeons are vaccinated three times (herpes, rota, pocken) and are preventatively treated with Giantel products to ensure their health.
  • Training Commencement: We will begin the first short training sessions in the coming days. The training schedule is published in the AviRings app.

AviRings Derby is synonymous with a modern OLR, striving to stay ahead of the competition. All pigeons are photographed and chipped within first week of arriving in Slovenia. Participants can track their pigeons' activities in the loft by logging into the AviRings app. We are also testing several innovative products in the field of sports pigeon racing and look forward to presenting them to the public.

In the 2024 season, we switched to Beyers pigeon feed, which is already showing results. The quality and wide range of mixtures for all development stages of young pigeons are crucial for their success. The results are already visible. More information about feeding will be published in a special blog post.

The active season is beginning, which is the most exciting phase for all of us. The pigeons are already training intensively around the loft. The first training sessions will follow next week, and the first race is scheduled for August 4, 2024. We wish everyone the best of luck – may the best pigeon win!
